Mikulas is not using the GNU binutils to process nested archives, only
a custom linker that is a client of BFD.  It will be difficult to
reproduce the problem using binutils programs, but should be
reproducable using a test case that compiles up a small program that
links against BFD.  IMHO, we should consider starting down that path
in forming a BFD testsuite.
