[Bug binutils/197] New: DESTDIR not used in all Makefiles |

DESTDIR is not used in the Makefiles of the following directories: opcodes/po,
bfd/po, and binutils/po/
So, if the prefix directory is not writable by the user performing an install,
make will exit with Error 2.
This was discovered when building on Solaris 9 when configured with:
CC=gcc CFLAGS='-O2' ./configure --prefix=/usr/local
and issued the commands:
gmake
gmake DESTDIR=~/dev/compiled/binutils install
I was able to modify the Makefiles specified in order for the 'make install' to
succeed, and will provide a patch against the corresponding Makefile.in's
shortly.
