[Bug ld/568] New: typeinfo for MYTYPE referenced in section FOO of myfil

From: trapni at gentoo dot org
Subject: [Bug ld/568] New: typeinfo for MYTYPE referenced in section FOO of myfile.o: defined in discarded section BAR of foo2.o
Date: 23 Nov 2004 03:33:35 -0000

When compiling a rather big library, written in C++,
I get the following linker error:

[....]
/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld:
`typeinfo for CodeDOM::TClassDef' referenced in section
`.gnu.linkonce.t._ZNK6System13Serialization18TSerializationInfo15getStrictObjectIN7CodeDOM9TClassDefEEEPT_RKNS_11TStringBaseIcEE'

of .libs/TArrayDef.o: defined in discarded section
`.gnu.linkonce.d._ZTIN7CodeDOM9TClassDefE' of .libs/TClassDef.o

/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: BFD
041121 20041121 internal error, aborting at elf32-i386.c line 2262 in
elf_i386_relocate_section

/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.3/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld:
Please report this bug.

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

I tried now three versions of binutils and all produced
this *censored* error, just with a slightly different output :(

I hope I won't dream of it tonight, or I'll streight jump out of
my window (having noone near me);

How can I quickly reproduce this? (150,000 lines are a bit
hard to trace down though)
