[Bug binutils/705] New: direct linking to a win32 dll fails

Subject: [Bug binutils/705] New: direct linking to a win32 dll fails
Date: 2 Feb 2005 18:51:33 -0000

I was asked to report this in early Dec 2004, but never quite got around to it.
I have a minimal example to illustrate the problem and will attach it if given
a chance.
The problem: If one makes a dll that replaces a procedure exported from
msvcrt.dll (in my case "read") and the builds an application to use and link
directly to the dll the reference will be resolved in msvcrt.dll. On the if
you make an import library and link to that the reference will be correctly
resolved. I was told that this had been mentioned before but was apparently
not being tracked.

I am using: gcc version 3.4.2 (mingw-special)
and binutils-2.15.91-20040904-1

I hope that I got this to the right place
