[Bug ld/830] New: GNU ld 2.15 dumps core during gcc 4.0-pre bootstrap

I get a core dump when trying to build gcc from the 4.0 release branch on
sparc-sun-solaris2.8 with the 2.15 binutils for as and ld.

The core dump is in the command

The immediate cause of the crash is a null pointer dereference in 
elf_sort_symbol:
