Were 2 libc.so.6 built from the identical source? Is the ONLY difference 
binutils 2.17.50.0.6 vs binutils 2.17.50.0.7?

If you can't provide a small testcase, I suggest you do a binary search
on binutils in CVS from 2006-10-20 to 2006-11-27 to find out which
check in causes this problem.
