In the mean time I narrowed down the nature of the bug,if a branch instruction's label has a local numerical label that is missing the 'f' or 'b' then as.exe references a null pointer.
Proper behavior would be to report a defective label, or an undefined label.The as.exe version is 2.17.50 (from codesourcery's arm branch), although a few before that acted the same.
