Since this is a bug about oprofile, a relevant question is: What version of the
bfd library is oprofile using?

Note that installing a new binutils with a new libbfd.so will not (and should
not) update the version used by oprofile even if oprofile is using a shared
libbfd.so.  If oprofile is using a libbfd.so shared library and you've forced
an update, then all sorts of things can go wrong because the libbfd ABI is not
stable..
