config.log reports the following relevant variables. seems there's confusion
between ld and gcc for indirect_function:

libc_cv_has_glob_dat=no
libc_cv_hashstyle=yes
libc_cv_have_sdata_section=yes
libc_cv_have_section_quotes=no
