These two are expected to assemble to similar encodings with similar
relocations attached:

        adrp    x0, .
1:      adrp    x0, 1b

Yet presumably as of eac4eb8ecb26 "Fix a problem assembling AArch64 sources
when a
relocation is generated against a..." the former looks to resolve . only at the
end of assembly, i.e. depending on how many further insns follow.

Nick then found that

        adrp    x0, . - 8

doesn't have this problem, so it's apparently only plain . which is affected
(for whatever reason).
