*sigh* I was thinking that this was a different bug.  I really should have
followed the link and checked out the other report first.

Not really - I would much prefer a test case that anyone can examine, not
just me.  But it looks like Alan has already researched and possibly fixed 
this problem.  So if you could try out the patch that he has suggested and
let us know if it works, then we should not need a test case at all.
