--export-dynamic documentation starts with "When creating a dynamically linked
executable..."  If you are not creating a dynamically linked executable the
option doesn't apply.  The fact that this bug was opened 14 years ago without a
fix means that everyone who has looked at this bugzilla has decided "No, I
won't fix this today".  I don't know how many people have done that, but it
would amount to rather a lot of "WONTFIX" decisions.
