I just thought of an objection to this from an internet privacy point of
view... history access is unrestricted, so Jill Schmoe may not want her
IP/hostname available to everyone after she downloads from a public
server.

Anyway, adding this to the protocol might require privacy cruft in the
server and client - access restrictions for the history file (hmm...
write but not read permissions in the filesystem? I don't know if that
works for files) on the server and options on the client end to disable
sending of the hostname.

Reverse IP lookups on the server end is a slightly different story, but
we might still have to look into restricting access to the history file.
