Can you help we with a CVS problem???

Overview
=========
   Error received:   cvs [server aborted]: no such tag
IT_40_AI_A_5_10_2002-03-12_Testing_12

Environment
===========
    CVS Version: 1.11
    Platform:    Linux 2.4.6

Actions
=======
    Import New code to an odd-numbered branch
        cvs import -I !  -m "Testing..." -b 1.1.47 our_tag
Alpha_name_for_branch

     check out Head of our project - make local copy
        cvs co Our_project

     Do Merge of newly-added branch
        cvs update  -A -R  -j Alpha_name_for_branch

At this point, I get the error:
        cvs [server aborted]: no such tag Alpha_name_for_branch

  -> Examination of val-tags on the server shows that the tag *does* exist.
  -> Other users can perform the checkout and merge with the correct
results.

Summary
========
    Looks like this is a problem with user permissions associated with the
    error: cvs [server aborted]: no such tag

Any help is greatly appreciated.
