It sure looks to me like cvs-1.11.2.tar.gz has been on that page for a
week though. Am I missing something?
By "official" we meant major releases (e.g., 1.11). See
<http://ftp.cvshome.org/README> for some taxonomy, and
<http://www.cvshome.org/cyclic/cyclic-pages/cvsdev.html>
for some more. The terminology is unfortunately inconsistent;
we should probably decide on canonical names for the various
types of releases and put an explanation on one of the download
pages.
You know, I knew that, but I think you're correct - I've become used to
the inconsistant terminology. I do notice that even the cyclic page you
mention leaves some room for confusion - it at leasts states an opinion
which might not be agreed on by everyone concerned when it contrasts
"exceedingly stable" with "best available":

At the least, "best available" should probably be defined further before
it is posted for general consumption again.
I think the FTP README file gets it right, at least by virtue of not
expounding too much.
Anyway, I just started uploading the stable release (1.11) to the
project download page. It should finish up in a few seconds. I'll
probably upload the FTP README with a few minor changes (e.g.,
mentioning that other versions and binaries might be available from the
FTP site).
