Don't know, perhaps strip isn't stripping *all* the miscellaneous stuff?
According to size, BSS space is what grew the most (on a percentage
basis), and that shouldn't even be stored in the file!  You may want to
check the man pages for size and strip for interesting options.  Also
check the "SEE ALSO" sections for pointers to other commands that might
be of interest in figuring out what's going on.
