Subject: cvs server aborted with checkout of large files (~300MB)

Hello altogether,

i'm testengineer at philips. At present we evaluate cvs for a version control
of our testprograms. When we tried to checkout a large file with a size about
300MB we got the following error message:

> cvs checkout big_pattern
cvs server: Updating big_pattern
U big_pattern/SC_pnx300nN3_dddsp_low_p_rom_mem_bist.pat
U big_pattern/SC_pnx300nN3_delft.pat
cvs [server aborted]: received broken pipe signal
cvs [checkout aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any)

But when i compare the size of the pattern file SC_pnx300nN3_delft.pat with the
original size, it seems that all works fine.
So this error seems to be a wrong error message.
The error does not depend to the client machine (unix or windows).
Is there any solution for this problem available or is this problem already
known ?

This error doesn't occur when i checkout this file locally on the cvs server
without the pserver protocol. So in my opinion this could be a problem with tcp
but i don't know it exactly.

Details to the environment:
Operating system: Solaris 9
Hardware: Sparc Station 5
Swap Memory: 3GB
cvs-version: Concurrent Versions System (CVS) 1.11.5 (client/server)

it would be beautifully if i could get helpful tipps for elimination of errors
