Posix 1003.3 functions not provided by the host OS will (we hope) be
provided by the GNULIB library a subset of which will ship with cvs
1.12.x in the lib directory.

If you have any other functions that are not covered, please let us know.

cvs 1.11.x is the last of the K&R minimum C compiler compatible releases.

cvs 1.12.x is targeted for freestanding C89 compiler as the minimum.

The above is my understanding of what is happening, I may be wrong. 
If so, I hope that Derek will correct me.
