Not if the import was done on a system that distinguishes between text
and binary files, and the reported problem indicates that it was.  In
that case, the repository files need to be corrected, and the easiest
way to do that is by redoing the import.  And you'd probably want to
use -kkv (which is the default), or perhaps -ko, rather than -kk.
