Could "cvs add" work locally to add the file if I am just using anonymous cvs access?
Maybe - depends on how the server is configured, I expect.

Because if i cannot add locally I am unable to do a cvs diff -u with the file included.
CVS should just spit out a message like
cvs server: new_file is a new entry, no comparison available

and continue with the other files. What's the problem?

Hi,

How did you achieve this? I expect you are not using anonmous cvs account like me. cvs will not let you locally add a file to the local copy. It seems to insist on creation on the server etc. Any ideas?

Kind regards

JG
