Note: It is always a good idea to indicate the host system on which you
are performing the 'make check' as well as any special configure options
you have provided.
My best guess is that you are starting with a /tmp/cvs-sanity that
already exists. Try to make sure it is removed before you start
your 'make check' command.
rm -fr /private/tmp/cvs-sanity
sudo rm -fr /private/tmp/cvs-sanity
and make sure that the directory is gone before running 'make check'
fwiw: I had no problems doing a 'make check' on my PowerBook running
MacOS 10.2.8 which is the only system that /tmp really maps to
/private/tmp among the systems I use.
