Hello,
I thought that it might be a good idea to view the changes before
doing "cvs up". So I tried:
        cvs di -rBASE -rHEAD

This prints the diff on stdout, as expected. But it also prints many
annoying error messages saying:

cvs server: tag BASE is not in file tests/README
cvs server: tag BASE is not in file tests/aclocal.m4
cvs server: tag BASE is not in file tests/actest.m4

One line per each dead file in the repository. I do not mean files dead
during the perios between BASE and HEAD, that would be OK.
The files have been dead for years.

My client is version 1.11.20 on GNU/Linux,
---- my ~/.cvsrc ----
cvs -q
diff -u
-----------

To reproduce the bug, check out
        :ext:anoncvs@savannah.gnu.org:/cvsroot/autoconf
and do
        cd autoconf
        cvs di -rBASE -rHEAD >/dev/null

With "cvs diff -N", there is no output on stderr, but the diff shows the
files as if they had been added.

The bug haven't appeared with :pserver:anoncvs@sourceware.org:/cvs/gettext
Perhaps it does not affect pserver servers?

[When replying, cc me, please.]

Have a nice day,
        Stepan Kasal
