File timestamps

Hi

I've got an issue which I believe could be a bug in CVS, or maybe it's a 
feature!  Whatever it is it's causing me problems so I'd like to know if 
there is a fix out there.....


Say a  file has been added to a branch in CVS.  When this branch is merged 
into a local copy of the trunk (using the update -j command) the file gets 
created in the local copy BUT the timestamp of the file does not 
correspond to the cvs update time as I would expect.  This can prevent the 
new file from being built.

It looks like the timestamp given to the file is the time it was 
originally added to the repository (i.e. added as dead to the trunk)

Should CVS work this way?

So, for example:

After an update a new file in the local copy looks like this (NB my 
machine is currently on BST, which is UCT+1):

And the head of the RCS file looks like this....

FYI - We are on 'AIX Version 5.3.0.0' and using 'Concurrent Versions 
System (CVS) 1.11.19 (client/server)'
