If this helps in any way, this is the draft SPEC file I used to create RPM for 
datamash:
  http://files.housegordon.org/datamash/src/datamash.spec

One small difference I see is that in my spec file, the example files are also 
included.
Whether you want to include them or not is of course to your discretion.
