Having just been given my first SSD to recover, I wondered whether ddrescue uses any different techniques than it would use for a magnetic disk?
Currently no.
But on an SSD, can the access mechanism be damaged by reading failing sectors? Can the sector itself be damaged by continually trying to read it?
I don't know. So the prudent thing to do seems to leave ddrescue as-is until someone shares evidence that it should be changed.
Best regards, Antonio.
