    configure.ac or Makefile.am included in ed-0.9 source.

There is no configure.ac or Makefile.am in ed; Antonio chose not to use
autoconf/automake.

    Or should I just add support manually to configure and 
    Makefile.in?

Yes.  May want to wait to hear from Antonio that he will accept the
changes (I hope so).

    Also the http://www.gnu.org/software/ed/ed.html webpage doesn't link to 
    downloads nor to mailing list archives or list details.

Thanks for mentioning that.  I'll work on improving that rather minimal
page :).
