Problem with dd |

Hi there,
I encountered a problem using dd.
I tried to make a bootable copy of my first
SCSI disk (where SuSE Linux 7.0 is installed).
I used the command
dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdd
(SCSI disk 2 and 3 are already used).
dd didn't report any problems but I even can't
mount the partitions on the 4th SCSI disk.
mount complains with
mount: /dev/sdd4 is not a valid block device
The two disks are equal sized (18GB).
On the first disk on all partitions (except
/boot) a ReiserFS is used.
fileutils 4.0 is installed. It's a i386
architecture.
I couldn't find any hints that dd does not
work with this configuration (ReiserFS, SCSI-disks,...)
so I'm not sure if it's my fault or a problem
of dd.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Bye,
Andreas Gaßner
