[Bug-freedink] Bug#698313: After exiting the game I get dumped to 640x480 screen

I've seen this, too. As a workaround, you can switch to windowed mode
with alt-enter just before exiting.

The problem is it only happens sometimes, and you can't use the
workaround when you know it has happened...
