URL: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?55231> Summary: PEP 3120 Project: GNU gettext Submitted by: xoristzatziki Submitted on: Sat 15 Dec 2018 09:46:08 PM UTC Category: Python Severity: 3 - Normal Item Group: None Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any _______________________________________________________ Details: According to this PEP (PEP 3120) python 3 files (usually indicated by a shebang such as #!/usr/bin/env python3 or alike) contain UTF-8 strings. This is not implemented in gettext (still "insists" that PEP 263 is the regulator) although almost all new code in python3 is written using utf-8 in mind. PEP 3120 does not prohibit the usage of alternative source encodings. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?55231> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
