You should better not have mentioned this article, because it is ridiculous
and thus gives a negative weight to your report:
- They say "Good tool design is important" and then go on to implement their
own 'envsubst', that does not consider most punctuation characters (+,-,.,
etc.) to be separators and that limits the length of variables to 4096 bytes.
- They claim that GNU software is "defective by design" and that "we need
better tools", and then goes on to work with Alpine Linux with its BusyBox
tools, for which we (in GNU) regularly have to find workarounds.
- They say "a tool which has non-obvious behavior or implies functionality
that is not actually there is a badly designed tool." But the documentation

mentions the limitation. So, either they haven't read the documentation, or
they are claiming "implies functionality that is not actually there" in bad
faith.
