An easy, job, with easy money and plenty of
it.
He took a risk andslipped, and then he had to pay
out.
We could be lost in the bush, suggested Stanley.
Boys will be boys, Jack, he said, turning to me. Hes young, hes had no experience,
baitedtraps gape for him, and hes dying to fall in.
We were a bit hasty, accusing the poor boy as we
did.
Why dont you just turn him loose on
thecommunity?
You seem to be pretty strong on these
introductions. Stanley, I moaned, staggering to my feet, fold up my blankets.
CHAPTER XXSomething was nudging in the ribs and I pushed it away. Nice confounded
mess youve got us into this time, I growledsavagely.

room.

fence.

through the building, outto a large gravelled yard. Therere two iron beds here, he
said, but theyre piled up withboxes. Phwat are the charges aginst the gintleman! I
cried, clutching Stanley in a frenzied grip. Perhaps he had some justification for
his snappishness. The popping of peanut shells was almostdeafening. Well, it must be
getting late, yawned George. He took a risk andslipped, and then he had to pay out.
Theyre just keeping behind us, waiting for us to break down orsomething.
