--enable-altivec becommes stack baundary 16,
so you use --disable-altivec for compatibility.
alitvec is able to use -maltivec on --disable-altivec.
--disable-altivec is stack baundary 8 without altivec regitor,

gcc-3.2 has a problem for glibc-2.3.
Gcc-3.2 was released before glibc-2.3.
Try update gcc-3.2 from gcc-3.2 branch.
Or I have those rpms, there are gcc-3.2.1pre and glibc-2/3,binutils-2.13.90(cvs
current)
