I'm not sure this is the best place to send this mail, but it's the only place
I could find.
Please CC me when replying.
I want to know why PIC is required for prelinking.
Using PIC results in a reduction in the amount of relocations needed (correct
me if I'm wrong) by putting the an address of the .so in a register. Prelink
does the relocation at .so installation time, rather than runtime.
So, shouldn't prelink render PIC obsolete, rather than required?
Please, fill me in. (and CC to me!)
