Hey, Josh!
Thanks for participating in the discussion. We need some more voices.

Just to be stubborn and pound my own idea again:

I feel (agree?) that we shouldn't have external links as primary
resources. I think it would be appropriate to allow external links as
references in articles, so long as we clearly distinguish between >internal links and external links. We could then make it clear that >external links are in no way cared-for or under the umbrella of the >GNUPedia.

But, hey, even that may be a bit too liberal. Dunno. A thought, >anyway.

I guess it depends on what you mean by primary resources. My own thinking on the subject is that any hyperlinks in the body of any articles would only link to other topics within GNE. It would be nice if we could GNE to auto-index itself and create these internal links on the fly.

I would think that any external links would have to be clearly marked as such and the user would know that they were leaving the site (or opening another) window if they clicked on them.

I would like Articles and External Links to be considered as types of resources. I didn't want them to be the sum of the resources. I'd rather if the resource list be extensible so when we come up with new ideas for resources.

On the front end users could be given the option to enable different types of resources, i.e. just articler or articles and external links or articles and pictures or sounds and articles, etc. I'm trying to conceptualize a taxonomy for the different items that would be of interested to a GNE user and/or contributor.

Thanks,
