Summary:  Patch: FTP backend fixes

Original Submission:  Note that this is not my archive, but i think it's safe 
to advertise this pair of patches that have to be included in order to have 
reliable FTP backend. I (Ed.gomez) use them since 2 weeks and i make my FTP 
mirroring work just great whereas i was suffering lot of errors before applying 
them.
