I guess I haven't been expressing myself clearly enough, but... Emacs would
behave exactly the same on each and every platform! In fact, if you just
incorporated my diffs and did nothing else, you would not notice any
difference at all. You then would have to EXPLICITLY disable the
copy-on-select behavior through the Customize screen -- and if you did, this
new behavior would also be present on each and every platform. I absolutely
agree that having differing *default* behaviors on different platforms would
be nonsensical.
As I mentioned in a previous posting, I actually use Emacs in a GNU/Linux
environment, but simply find the Windows/Mac metaphor to be more convenient.
Having said all this, I notice that there is hardly any interest in my changes
so I will not push it further. :)
