I used X resources [1]. I checked with customizing my ~/.emacs, and the
dialog is better that way - it's black text on a grey blackground.
However, that also means it ignores the ~/.emacs color scheme for dialogs.
That's not too much too worry about yet. What bothers me more is that the
menubar also ignores ~/.emacs color settings, while it does not ignore
.Xresources color settings, so that's why I was using the latter.

Those are the debian package revisions; -1 was built with XFree86 libxaw
IIRC and -2 with xaw3d (Rob, correct me if I'm wrong).
