Running emacs -nw and then just hitting "C-<home>" followed by "C-h l"
produces

  ESC [ 7 ^ C-h l    ;; rxvt

  ESC O H C-h l      ;; gnome terminal

  ESC O 5 H C-h l    ;; xterm

  ESC [ 1 ~ C-h l    ;; linux console

Home and end work as expected on all of these terminals.
