frame title is not updated often enough

Hi,

from my XEmacs setup, I inherited the following line to set my emacs
window title:

  (setq frame-title-format "File %f in column %c, line %l Status: %*")

However, with Emacs 21, the window title updates only every once in a
while (e.g., not while I type, but if there is some bigger re-display
going on).

My display is on a Solaris 2.5.1 machine with the according CDE
(emacs itself is running on a Solaris 2.6 machine though).
