I'll give it a shot if I get time (may not be this week). I have viewed
plenty of GIFs before, this is the first one that has caused me
problems. Did you try downloading the GIF I posted on my site and
trying that, or is that what you meant when you said that you had no
visible problems?

Sorry I forgot to mention that. Yes, I do exactly what you say above
and get the crash (the backtrace I included before was from an instance
where I did just that and nothing else; my first backtrace from my usual
emacs invocation was several pages longer, but then I thought better of
it).
