emacs 21.1

  I've installed emacs 21.1 on Solaris (sparc) 2.8 without any problems, but
I keep getting "No fonts match
-*-fixed-medium-r-normal-*-16-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1"  I ran xlsfonts and that
font is not listed but other ones are, so I try emacs -fn with other fonts
and get the same exact error.  I'm spinning my wheels and I dont know what
else to try.  Your help will be appreciated.  I've even tried setting up an
.Xdefaults file, but not sure if I'm doing this right.
