If
$ emacs
C-y
gives "Kill ring is empty" in the minibuffer, then consider
$ emacs
x C-a C-k C-y ESC y ESC y ESC y ESC y ESC y ESC y
It looks like emacs is frozen or deaf. This must be because it is
cycling on only one item. Maybe yank-pop should complain that there
is only one and the same item to pop. Maybe no big deal, OK never mind.
