So you could have looked in the "PROBLEMS" file with C-h P and
discover a section about compiling calc.

Your wish has been granted, it is now in the CVS. Actually, it's been
there quite a while and I rather recommend checking it out from there
(as there has been a number of fixes) rather than using the stone-age
calc-2.02f package.
