Folks:
Any advice on how to diagnose or fix this
problem would be most welcome:
Emacs suddenly began hanging, several months ago,
on my notebook running emacs under Win2000 Pro. It
worked flawlessly for years previously.
Symptoms are
0. Emacs runs for an arbitrary period of
time - minutes or hours, then hangs.
1. Entire windows screen locks up almost completely.
2. Mouse still moves.
3. No applications respond to mouse actions,
including the windows task manager.
4. The only keyboard commands I can do are
ALT-TAB to scroll active windows, and
CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the "Windows
Secutity" dialog, which does respond
to mouse clicks to logout or shut down.
5. Logging out or rebooting the machine
successfully un-hangs the computer.
I recently releaded a clean copy of emacs
(emacs-21.3-fullbin-i386.tar.gz), to no avail.
I cannot reproduce this on my other Win2K
machines.
Thanks,
Louis Whitcomb
