The prompt should not say "(type ? for list)". That is the default
behavior of completion in Emacs, so it should not be called out
specially here.
And in alternative completion libraries `?' might well not have the
effect specified. For example, in Icicles, `?' is self-inserting during
completion.
Any keys (e.g. `?', `TAB') that might display the *Completions* list are
specific to completion, not to this fringe-mode selection command.
