From: Drew Adams
Subject: bug#17902: 24.4.50; (elisp) `Function Debugging' still says redefining a function cancels `debug-on-entry', which is no longer true
Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2014 10:36:17 -0700 (PDT)

Subject line says it all. And it's a WARNING, no less (should never
have been a warning).

*Warning:* if you redefine a function after using `debug-on-entry'
on it, the code to enter the debugger is discarded by the
redefinition. In effect, redefining the function cancels the
     break-on-entry feature for that function.

This feature was intentionally removed in Emacs 24. Invoking the
function still opens the debugger, even after you redefine the
function, until you use `cancel-debug-on-entry' for it.
