I’ve pushed a fix to the master branch, but unfortunately I don’t
think the fix will make it into Emacs 27. The fix has noticeably worse
performance than the current Emacs 27 branch, and even though I think
it will be fast enough, I can’t guarantee it for all situations. As a
result I’d rather the fix isn’t applied to Emacs 27 just in case we
end up doing a release that breaks people’s workflows. The current
bugs in Emacs 27 are annoying, but they can be easily worked around.
