Does it help to play with the value of process-adaptive-read-buffering?
Or with read-process-output-max?
It seems it doesn't. I tried all 4 combinations of read-process-output-max = 4096/1 MB and process-adaptive-read-buffering = nil/t, emacs behaves the same.
