bug#41108: 27.0.91; `register-read-with-preview' delete pre existing window

I'm unable to reproduce this in Emacs 27.2, but I can't see any obvious
changes in this code, either.

Can you give a recipe to reproduce this bug, starting from "emacs -Q"?
