 ~/.emacs launches elisp files using the function typex-launch (which calls 
additional init files,
minor-modes, modified elisp packages, ...)

For instance, ~/.emacs includes

(add-to-list 'load-path "/home/hagbard/Opstk/bin/typex/")
(load "typex")
(typex-launch)
